Good Trouble Lives On: Fight for HISD's Future
Across America today our fundamental rights are under assault daily, and parents, students and teachers in the occupied Houston Independent School District are coming together to fight back.
On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’ passing, the leaders Fighting for HISD’s Future are launching their campaign for Houston ISD school board at a Good Trouble Lives On event in Houston’s East End, and I’m inviting you to stand with us.
Sixty years ago, President Johnson used all of the power of the federal government to ensure that every student had equal access to a quality public education. Today, elected leaders from Trump to Abbott are using all of their powers to destroy our schools and steal the future from our kids.
This is part of a National Day of nonviolent action to demand that our elected leaders protect our freedom to vote, stand up to authoritarianism, and fight back against attacks on our communities from Black and Brown Americans to immigrants, LGBTQ+ folks, and working families.
We’ll rally, hold community events, and make it clear:
In America, the power lies with the people.
Let’s get into Good Trouble for our schools, for our kids, and each other.
